US Census Bureau SIS Week:  EVERYONE COUNTS!

Join the movement to make sure every child is counted in the 2020 Census by taking part in Statistics in Schools Week: Everyone Counts! This weeklong series of fun classroom activities is provided by the U.S. Census Bureau’s Statistics in Schools (SIS) program to educate students about the importance of the once-a-decade count.

As a key part of this week, we are asking every teacher in the country to distribute the SIS take-home flyer to every student in their school on the final day of SIS Week, March 6. This flyer, available in English and 12 additional languages, explains to adults the importance of the 2020 Census and how to count every child in their home.

SkillsUSA Week is celebrated in February each year.

SkillsUSA Week gives state associations, advisors and student members the opportunity to promote SkillsUSA programs and activities at the local and state levels.

During the week, members can also help raise awareness of SkillsUSA.

ANTC Celebrates National School Choice Week

From January 26 - February 1, 2020, Amelia-Nottoway Technical Center will celebrate National School Choice Week (NSCW). NSCW is a nationwide effort that raises awareness of the importance of opportunity in K-12 education. Families often use the week to search for schools for their children. Schools—like ours—use the week to celebrate what makes them unique.

National School Choice Week provides an opportunity for the Amelia-Nottoway Technical Center community to recognize our students, their parents, our teachers, and our entire staff.

In that spirit, I want to thank the parents who have chosen Amelia-Nottoway Technical Center for their children. Your choice and involvement in your child’s education have played an essential role in our school’s success. I also want to thank all of our teachers, paraprofessionals, and staff for their commitment to our students and to making ANTC the best it can be. Most importantly, I want to recognize our incredible students, whose dedication to their own learning inspires all of us every day.

National School Choice Week also provides our school community with a chance to show off our school spirit and spread the word about how we are making a positive difference in the lives of our students. We have several activities and events planned for this week—and we will all be wearing our NSCW yellow fleece scarves with gratitude.
